✍️: Michael, The Brains behind Vihiga Queens.
Michael Senelwa was born on 10th, May, 1982 and began his football in Primary School.
In the years preceding 2014 when VQFC was started, Senelwa had been actively involved in various aspects of the beautiful game as a Player, Administrator or Patron.
From around 2010 onwards, Senelwa and other football lovers like Maxwell Alenga, Boniface Nyamunyamu, Mr. Wilson Nyavuke, Mr. Fredrick Ambula, among others began actively promoting meaningful competitive football in the local areas of Kidundu, Majengo, Mbale and Vihiga.
However, Senelwa’s move to start the Kenyan Women Football giant, Vihiga Queens is arguably his most successful sports project thus far.
Sources close to him maintain that his commitment, leadership, sustained acts of philanthropy and belief in people empowerment are key to VQFC’s growth.
Michael has successfully led the Club to four domestic titles (2017, 2018, 2019, 2023), and one CECAFA WCL Qualifiers Championship in 2021 which came with the honour of becoming the first female club from East African region to compete at the continental level, the 2021 CAF WCL in Egypt.
He prefers working behind the scenes and has conquering Kenya (done), Africa (in progress) and the globe mid to long-term) as the biggest goals for the Club.
As a Club, we rely on his strategic stewardship and leadership to achieve our goals.
