Vihiga Queens celebrated the culmination of their 10th anniversary celebration with a grand gala held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at SOSA Cottages in Mbale.
The grand event, which glittered with pride and achievement, marked the finale of a month-long celebration that began on August 5, 2024.
As part of their anniversary celebrations, Vihiga Queens actively also engaged in several CSR initiatives, allowing players to give back to the community.
The festivities kicked off in Kisii during the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national games, where the team volunteered and participated in various roles, while also playing friendly matches with local teams.
Following the Kisii activities, the team hosted international friendly matches at Mumias Sports Complex. These games featured JKT Queens from Tanzania and Kibera Soccer Women, who stepped in after Kampala Queens from Uganda were unable to attend.
Vihiga Queens faced two tough matches, resulting in a 2-0 loss to Kibera Soccer Women and a 3-0 defeat to JKT Queens. Despite the setbacks, these matches were valuable pre-season encounters, helping the team identify areas for improvement and allowing new signings to integrate into the squad.

The gala event itself was nothing short of spectacular, attended by an array of county government officials, esteemed partners, dedicated well-wishers, former players, and the two visiting teams from their international friendlies.
The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, laughter, and nostalgia, as guests reflected on the club’s remarkable journey from humble beginnings to one of the top football teams in Kenya and East African region.

Attendees were treated to memorable performances, elegant décor, and a sumptuous dinner, creating an atmosphere of celebration befitting such a milestone. It was a night of joy, unity, and reflection—a perfect crown to Vihiga Queens’ decade-long legacy in women’s football, while setting the stage for even greater achievements in the years to come.
Now, with their 10th-anniversary celebrations behind them, Vihiga Queens set their sights on the 2024/25 FKF Women’s Premier League season, which kicks off on October 5, 2024.
