Vihiga Queens FC first choice goalkeeper Lilian Awuor Onyango is happy that she will have the chance to play professional football in France.
Onyango is expected to travel tomorrow to Paris, France on an Ethiopian airlines flight via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
She will be joining French top division side ASJ Soyaux-Charente on a two and a half year contract. “I am so delighted that finally my dream of playing professional football is coming true. I thank my teammates and management of Vihiga Queens for all the support,’ said Onayngo.
Onyango, also the Harambee Starlets goalkeeper played a pivotal role to help Vihiga Queens win the regional CAF Champions League qualifiers and during the inaugural TotalEnergies Africa Women’s Champions League played in Cairo, Egypt late last year.
“As Vihiga Queens, we shall forever be grateful to Lilian for her services to our club and we take this opportunity to wish her the very best as she continues her professional football career in France,” said management of the Vihiga Queens.
ASJ Soyaux-Charente are currently placed 10th on the Women’s French Division 1 table standing. Lyon Women FC are top of the 12 team League.
