Vihiga Queens’ Joan Nabirye has been nominated to vie for the Award of best foreign based Ugandan players for the 2021 Airtel FUFA Awards.

The defensive midfielder is lined-up against three top Uganda Cranes players under the fan’s favourite Uganda foreign based player.

Mamelodi Sundowns FC (South African) and former African best goalkeeper Dennis Onyango, Taddeo Lwanga (Simba, Tanzania) and Fahad Bayo (Ashdod FC, Israel) are the other players nominated for the Award.

Nabirye helped Vihiga Queens FC win the regional CECAFA Women’s Champions League and feature in the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions league in Egypt. She also played a pivotal role in helping Uganda overcome Ethiopia to qualify for the next round of the 2022 Women’s AFCON qualifiers.

The sixth edition of the Airtel FUFA Awards in Uganda will take place on December 4th, 2021 at the Speke Resort Munyonyo, where winners will be rewarded in different categories.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced that 13 categories of Awards will be presented running under the theme, ‘Celebrating Uganda’s Finest Football Personalities’.
