The Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) mid-season break is set to end on 1st April 2022 with title-favourites Vihiga Queens bracing themselves for a tough second leg season.

The Queens finished the first leg on top of the table with 32 points, 10 points ahead of the second ranked team, Gaspo Women FC.

The first leg ended with the Legacy Makers’ goals-basket at 41 goals for and 7 against thus bringing the goal difference to +34.

A total of 11 matches have been played with Vihiga winning 10 and drawing once to finish the leg unbeaten.

All the above has taken place against a backdrop of big players leaving the club for greener pastures overseas with Lilian Awuor (First Choice Goalkeeper) leading the exits by heading to France after two games.

She was quickly followed out of the door by Jentrix Shikangwa and Christine Nafula who headed to Turkey. They will soon be joined by Teresa Engesha who is headed to South Korea.

Teresa leaves while she’s at the top of the goal-scorers list with 9 goals with Jentrix and Christine also featuring prominently on the list at 5 and 7 goals respectively.

In their absence, reserve striker, Topister Situma is quickly establishing herself as the new alpha bagging 6 goals in 4 games as she hunts down the top goal-scorer of the season title.

All eyes are now set for the second leg kick off on 2nd April 2022.

The Queens will restart their campaign away against Nakuru City Queens on Sunday, 3rd April 2022 as from 3:00 PM.

Let the games resume!
