Sunday, 17th April, 2022 brought together Western Zone KWPL rivals, the Kitale-based Trans Nzoia Falcons and Vihiga-based Vihiga Queens Football club.

Kicking off at 3 PM, the game started on a high note with Janet Moraa scoring the Queens’ opener at the 23rd minute.

With a few minutes remaining to half-time, Moraa scored the second goal to send the Legacy Makers into a 2:0 first-half lead.

The second half at the reasonably packed Kenyatta Stadium, Kitale began with a motivated Queens’ side taking on demoralized Falcons who had a little chance of making a come back.

As the clock ticked on, Queens’ Head Coach Boniface Nyamunyamuh made his first substitution in the 53rd minute bringing on creative midfielder Maureen Ater who replaced ‘lady of the moment’ Janet Moraa Bundi.

In the 74th minute, Maureen Ater marked herself present in the game by scoring the third goal of the match. This was the last nail in Trans Nzoia’s coffin.

The result therefore propels Vihiga Queens to 38 points, 9 ahead of second place Gaspo Women FC who are on 29 points.
