As the Kenya Women Premier League 2023/2024 season approaches the tail-end, Vihiga Queens FC has reinvigorated their readiness ahead of the upcoming fixtures.

To spice up the intensified training sessions, the team has also lined up a series of friendly matches in preparation for the season remainder.

On 24th February 2024, the team played a friendly match against Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) 2023 national games champions Butere Girls High School where they shared spoils in an exciting encounter that attracted football fanatics from the area.

According to Vihiga Queens Assistant Team Captain Maureen Ater, the team is psyched up and are determined to win the remaining matches.

“I urge my teammates to be more focused on our season’s target. We want to bag this title yet again for the team and for ourselves,” challenges Ater.

The Legacy Makers as fondly known by many, are awake to the fact that putting up a spirited fight during the homestretch is all but no option. Head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu maintains that resilience in battles provides the needed cutting edge. He has urged his charges to compound all future fixtures with intention.

“When we lost to Kenya Police Bullets, we reflected back, then looked forth. And yes, bolstered mental preparedness for the remainder of the season is the critical driver,” holds Nyamunyamu.

On his part, the team’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Senelwa who leads the pack of operations advocated for team work and a collaborative targeted approach when it comes to execution of mandates. He said this will go along way in achieving the set targets, key among them being qualifying for this year’s CECAFA competition.

“Team, let us play to win, with our hearts and minds. It’s all hands on deck by all and sundry,” resolved Senelwa.
