The Vihiga Queens FC team has this morning traveled to Cairo, Egypt ahead of the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League 2021.

Led by the Chief Executive Officer, Michael Senelwa Ogada, the team left on an Egypt Air flight. “We are happy that finally the team is traveling for a tournament that will give our team good exposure and a goo platform to showcase talent,” said Ogada.

He made it clear that this will be a good experience for the team. “The team is very motivated and ready to carry the Kenyan flag high,” added Ogada.

Eight teams will battle in the inaugural tournament slated for November 5-19th in Cairo.

Ugandan international Joan Nabirye, fresh from helping Uganda Crested Cranes qualify for the second round of the 2022 Women’s AFCON qualifiers said they are determined and ready to put up a good show. “We are motivated as a team and ready to give our best,” added Nabirye.

 Vihiga Queens will open their campaign with a match against Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) on November 6th. They will face Morocco’s Asfar Club in the second group game on November 9th, before taking on Nigeria’s Rivers Angels in the last group match three days later.
