The Vihiga Queens team captain Enez Mango has said playing at the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League in Cairo, Egypt was very valuable to them.

“The tournament was very interesting and an eye opener to us as a team,” said Mango.

Although the CECAFA giants failed to make it through the group stage, Mango made it clear that playing at the tournament has increased their appetite to qualify again for the next edition.

“We have learnt valuable lessons and next time we shall come back stronger because we now know what to do and how to handle certain aspects,” added the captain.

Vihiga Queens started the campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (South Africa), before they returned to pick a 2-0 win against Morocco’s ASFAR FC. In the final group B game the Kenyan side suffered a 4-0 loss to Rivers Angels (Nigeria).

Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies FC will now face Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies on November 19th.
