The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League qualifiers for the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) region 2021 competition will be heading into the Semi-Finals stage on Monday, 6th September 2021 after completion of group matches.

Vihiga Queens are set to battle out for the finals slot with nine-point Group A champions Simba Queens from Tanzania in a 1 PM early kick-off whereas the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) who also topped Group B with a maximum of 9 points will square it out with Group A’s runner-up Lady Doves from Uganda at 4 PM, both matches taking place at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

Three consecutive times Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) Champions Vihiga Queens are currently at 6 points in Group B, having lost to CBE in the opening match and winning against Yei Joint Stars from South Sudan and New Generation FC from Zanzibar in thrilling encounters that saw a high number of goals being scored.

In the first match, CBE won 4-2 against Vihiga Queens who got a consolation from Maureen Achieng’s brace.
Yei Joint Stars were unlucky to meet the wounded Queens in the second game, receiving 11 goals to nil. During the match, Violet Wanyonyi and Maureen Achieng’ performed exemplary, netting four goals and a hat trick respectively.
Young sensational Jentrix Shikangwa and top striker Tereza Engesha scored two goals each.

On the last day of group matches, Zanzibar’s New Generation FC were sent packing by a boisterous Vihiga Queens in an exciting game that ended 8 nil at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
Jentrix Shikangwa joined the tournament’s top scorers list with a hat trick whereas Maureen Achieng’ added one goal to her basket.
Tereza Engesha continued her hunt for more goals with a brace while midfield maestro Mercy Anyango scored one of the most amazing goals of the tournament.
Also on target was Robai Kebedi.

As a result, Maureen Achieng’ tops Vihiga Queens top scorers list with 6 goals, closely followed by Jentrix Shikangwa at 5 goals. Violet Wanyonyi and Tereza Engesha tie at number three with 4 goals each.
