Vihiga Queens Football Club will for the second time be facing the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) team in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League qualifiers for the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) region 2021 competition but this time round at the finals level.

This follows Vihiga’s 2-1 win against Simba Queens of Tanzania in one of the most anticipated semi-final matches of the inaugural competition that took place on Monday, 6th September 2021 at Nyayo national stadium.

After a goalless first half, Maureen Achieng’ put the Legacy Makers on the forefront by heading home at the 63rd minute.
A spirited Simba Queens responded 6 minutes later through Aisha Mnunka’s equalizer.

With most Vihiga Queens’ fans now casting their hopes into extra time, Jentrix Shikangwa salvaged the situation by heading Alice Mideri’s 88th minute free kick into the far post thus granting the Kenyan representatives the much deserved win.

Simba Queens will now battle for the tournament’s 3rd slot with Uganda’s Lady Doves who were edged out by Ethiopia’s CBE through penalties in the second semi-final game.

Both the 3rd/4th play-off and final matches will be played on Thursday, 9th September 2021 at Nyayo national stadium as from 1:00 PM.
